Gentlemen's abode

The other day I invited Scott Fazzini over, of Domicidal Maniac. To give me some advice about what I should do with my dining room. After a very quick conversation about the actual amount of times I use a dining table. He came up with this: I am to turn my now somewhat shabby dining area into a 1970's Media room, and the living room now. Shall become a gentlmen's receiving room. So here are some ideas of things I want to fill that space.
I thought this chippendale style office sofa could make the perfect compliment to all that darkness. Plus, it's perfect for smoking.
I also thought this little fainting couch could be the perfect size for guests.

Finally, a gorgeous center table, picture this with my white panton chairs in the corner, with books and an alabaster lamp.

If only I had....

Wow, If only I had two grand to shell out on these amazing chairs. This is a great example of everything I love about furniture all combined into one perfect piece, and they are a set of six!
Lucite, brass trim, and crazy maroon 1980's fabric. I am not sure it gets much better than this. This set of chairs, was designed by Leon Frost. Whom did a lot of similarly extraordinary furniture, with glass, brass, and acrylic sculpture. Similarly styled to such names as Parzinger, Karl springer and of course, the ever popular Milo Baughman who did multiple lines for Thayer Coggin. Happy weekend, and as always Happy hunting !

Speaking of Chrome... I just fell in love

So my usually scouting had me looking for chrome objects to glorify my somewhat newly decorated Seventies Love Pad. Along that search I came upon this Amazing George Kovacs floor lamp. Probably closer to the early 1980's, rather than the Shag-adelic look . I love its straight forward extremely boxy design. Almost a reproduction of a reproduction. Seeing as this style was quite popular in the early 60's with the floor to ceiling version that actually was spring loaded to fit almost anywhere. Well I don't know about you, but I love this piece and for $125 its a steal.
Happy Hunting!

and Now, for something completely different!

So I am quite aware how overly Kitsch early 90's design can be. however, if you may or may not have noticed designers are already introducing these over stylistic design choices and typically over scaled pieces into modern home decor, AGAIN. I give you this coffee table fore example. Now granted, place in the home of say Bernie Lowmax AKA (weekend at Bernie's) could very well be called bad taste or even Tacky. However place this piece which is solid travertine and quite luxurious at heart, in the home of say. ....Bill Sofield, Could very well be a great design statement. The bones are there. The color is neutral, Its to tables which can be arranged in a multitude of ways, and the angles create sharp geometric presence.

Contemporary Modernism.....?

It has been quite a while. I do realize. But just a quick one today. I spotted these chairs. What a great pair. I think what make these distinctive to me is the dark piping. Might have been reupholstered but who cares they are amazing. Scandinavian Chairs
WOW! Baker Furniture, a few years ago did a line with Coach Leathers. This is from that collection. What an amazing piece. I love the the classic chesterfield lines that have been modernized just slightly. Baker (Coach leather) Sofa

Brash and Brassie

I Almost forgot to add a background track for this post today. So here it is Open this up in another window and enjoy as you read. Beach house (Auburn and Ivory.)

My Obsession with brass Continues as I have conjured up a few treasures here for you today. I can't help but feel warm, and enriched with color, whilst I look at these I dream of sipping on a glass of Lagavulin.

These bedside tables are from ebay. I find the 1970's a great inspiration for design. Do you think upholstering the walls behind the bed in a dark grey grass cloth would be to much? Pair that with this really low, somewhat modern West elm bed.
Again the 70's are always right there in my mind. The amber glass globes are stunning don't yah find ? Unfortunately this CL listing just ended today. They only wanted $20 bucks for this baby!

A few months back I was thinking of getting a giant brass/glass coffee table like this for my parlor. This would go so well with any, dark green and blue hues. Even sands and taupes could work. Fredrick CL. Pair it with this Laura Kirar Rug from Tufenkian.

The snow has Undoubtedly, kept most of us indoors for days! So I have been forced to do what I do best, Scour Craig's List for things I love. This is an amazing chesterfield in my favorite Cognac color, perfect for that professors library you've been thinking about creating. Yet, Small enough to fit into the smallest of apartments.
